The IBM AS/400* Advanced System 9402 is the low-end offering in the AS/400 System line. With a fresh, new look, this model offers optional features to match processor performance to application requirements. When an increase in
users or applications requires more CPU power, you can install a new
processor feature, rather than doing a complete model upgrade. The system performance of the 9402 spans an equivalent model range from the 9402
Model F02 to the 9406 Model F45. Upgrades from AS/400 systems (except B models) to the AS/400 Advanced Series models are available.

The IBM AS/400* Advanced System 9406 are models of the AS/400 Advanced Series of business computing systems. These attractively packaged systems feature the latest technology, superior quality and reliability, and improved price and performance. They span an equivalent model performance range from the 9404 Model F20 to the 9406 Model F97. There are fewer models, but they offer granularity of performance through optional system processor features.
The AS/400 Advanced System 9406 3x0 model line is an evolution from the traditional AS/400 9404 and 9406 packages, which have become the standard
of the commercial computing world. Field upgrades from installed AS/400 systems (except B or P models) to the AS/400 Advanced Series models are available, to take advantage of new technologies, while protecting current investment in hardware and applications.
